Sunset at Telford Lake - composition

As I live close by this lake, and it makes a such a good and willing subject, I shall forewarn you, there will be many photos of this subject.
I was working on composition tonight and had a difficult time deciding which looked best.

Shutter Bug Skill - #1

A brief reminder of what I was trying to achieve here.

Skill 1:
Find a stationary object and photograph it from the same position at sunrise, 12:00 noon, 6:00pm, and sunset. This is to show the color temperature, soft and hard light, light direction and shadows.

I think perhaps I took the sunrise one a little too soon, but with the angle that I had to take photo from, my spare room, I was limited as the sun shines directly on my window, which incidentally these photos are taken through. I did have an advantage here, that I could set up my tripod and take the same picture at the different time intervals.

                                                       Sunrise 6:16 AM

Noon 12:16 PM

                                                                6 PM

Notice how the shore line on the left seems to be more highlighted.

                                                               8:30 PM

Such dramatic difference between the sunrise, sunset (softer) - but the day ones I notice the  blues and greens are more intense at 6ish.

Another new skill learnt - how to make a collage of my pictures.

Shutterbug Twilight Photo Walk

Tonight we went on a twilight walk and did some night shots as well. This is Edmonton Alberta's high level bridge across the Northern Saskatchewan River.

A view of both the High Level Bridge and the LRT bridge.

Below the LRT bridge featured in this picture is a pedestrian bridge.

The only real Twilight shot that I managed to get. This is one of my fellow photographers.

My last shot of the evening. I finally managed to capture the train on the track. I was hoping for the blurred vision. So many skills to learn and so much fun learning them.

Shutter Bug Skill - first attempt

Skill 1:
Find a stationary object and photograph it from the same position at sunrise, 12:00 noon, 6:00pm, and sunset. This is to show the color temperature, soft and hard light, light direction and shadows.
I didn't fair too well on this first attempt. Took lots of pictures. Sunrise was really beautiful, however the day clouded over so task was put on hold. I had trouble setting the camera and getting a good focus.

Here the sun is overexposed, but I did love the effect it had over the lake.

This was my 6pm shot and even though it was cloudy, I like the composition I got, however one does have to be careful as you can see the blinds reflected on the left side of the photo.

Sunset - well, shall we just say, I'm not too good with the 24 hour clock - so the sun was long gone when my alarm went off. Live and learn.

A Walk at the Leduc Golf Course

I thought it would be a good idea to go for a little walk at the local golf course, before I had to be dodging golf balls. This Buddah statue sits in a flower bed near the entrance of the golf course. He has been the subject in one of my winter sets of photos.

The pussy willows are struggling to come out this year.

A view of the Club house.
