52 Week Challenge - Ice & Ice on Whyte

This weeks challenge was "ICE" which was perfect as I was attending the annual Ice on Whyte Event

 

The weather was extremely warm for this and although this WAS a 10ft wall earlier in the day, it afforded me many different photo opportunities.

 

 

The festival provides ice sculpturing classes to the children.

 

This beautiful sculpture shows some of the delicacy with which some of these fine artists create.

This year is Canada's 150 anniversary of becoming a country. Metis trappers and explorers and their contribution to the development of our country is honored here.

Jack Frost visits Fred John Park

We have been so blessed of late with the Beauty of Frost. Fred Johns park was not excluded from this awesome sight.

 

 

This little beauty I captured later in the day with my iPhone in of all places - The Walmart parking lot.

Today I went into Edmonton to walk the river valley and see the new Ped way that just opened in August.

52 Week Challenge - Week 4 - "3" and walk about

Today, I was on the search for the subject of my next 52 week challenge - "3"

Fire hydrant - 3 connectors

 

 

Recyle Bin - 3 arrows

 

As the hoar frost was so predominant and I wanted to take advantage of it. - My submission was this. I am not too sure that others will see it, but for me I see a heart made with 3 diamonds. I couldn't see it any other way.

 

 The hoar frost was so beautiful, it offered up many other opportunities for some awesome shots.

                   Later in the day, I went for a hike over at Devon, a town nearby.
                      An underground spring was creating this beautiful ice flow.

I call this the "Stairway to Heaven" in that if you climbed it you may have a heart attack...Quite an athletic challenge for those out of shape and that would be me...Actual name is "Stairway of Fire", I would imagine by the burn it causes in your thighs.

I find it hard to resist taking photo of these lights. I get to look at them every evening from my apartment. Today though I decided to go down to ground level and see what combinations I could get with full moon. Its only 6 pm and and oh so dark.

The Edmonton Opera Society was promoting their 2017 Operas. I originally took the photo as part of my 52 week challenge "Sweet", however the graininess in the photo was too much.

 

-30 and I decided I needed a walk @ 430 pm...brrrrr!
