While I was having my morning coffee, some shadows on the wall caught my eye, so I thought I would play around with them today. The dragon fly and humming bird are shadows from my balcony screen.

Difficult challenge!

A picture every day is quite the commitment. I have so much more respect for Louie and her blog. It was bitterly cold here today, friggin wind factor made it a difficult out door shoot..I did manage to get a picture of a plane, but it was too hard on the camera and me, and the picture didn't turn out. I am afraid, I have already blown my resolution. Life manages to play into the picture, demands from other people, responsibilities etc. I know, excuses, excuses, excuses. I'll try and make more of an effort. A teaching lesson of organizational skills in itself. Thought I would take a picture of my tree without the lights on. Oops, I can see by the refection in the window, they were on.

Not sure if it is necessary to title each and every page. I suppose down the line, it might help to identify something a little quicker. Today, the snow had some interesting shape to it. Lots of crevices . I think it must have rained after we got the snow last night.

A beautiful winter evening!

A beautiful winter evening, 1+ Celcius. The snow is floating down - huge wet snowflakes. So beautiful and yet not great for driving - slick!

This sign always captures my eye when I am driving by it, so I decided tonight would be a good night to take a picture of it - and I took 2. The first one with my Nikon S6300 Coolpix.

This is the only shot I was able to catch with my new camera as sadly the lights were on a timer and went out. I love how the camera captured the snowflakes.

Chapter 1

It has been almost a year since a friend of mine turned me on to blogging. He knew, that I loved to take pictures, and introduced me to a blog written by his friend's wife. In 2007, she made a decision to take a picture a day and post it. Every Sunday, while sipping on my morning coffee, I read one month of her blog. I am now up to 2009. Thru her blog, I have gained a deep insight to her being. Although I have never met her, I feel as though I know her.  Thru her blog, I believe her true being is exposed, showing the qualities of a wonderful human being. I don't plan to convince you that I, too am a wonderful human being, it is a given, and yes I do have a good sense of humor, however I wish to follow in her footsteps and dedicate the year 2014 to a photograph a day. I don't promise anything more, and hope that I can fulfill my goal. My life has been consumed with other peoples tasks and now I just want to do something for myself - I LOVE LIFE and all that it has to offer. If I can encourage just one person, to take a little time for themselves, get outdoors, see nature in the raw, enjoy the arts, the sciences, and appreciate all that life has to offer - then this is my gift and my reward. Too often we get caught up in the whirlwind of the life and it passes us by.We  wonder where it went. Take a tape measure and estimate the average life you think you will live. Now look at where you are. Where you've been. Pretty scary, isn't it, when it is put in that context.- We need to slow down and evaluate what is exactly the important part of life. What truly makes us happy? When we have that warm, content, fuzzy feeling, chances are, it isn't when we are spending a lot of money, buying things, satisfying our material needs. Although ,we all have responsibilities and obligations in our lives, We need to find that balance; to BREATHE and SMELL THE ROSES (that is if you aren't allergic to flowers)...Enjoy a sunset instead...just ENJOY! After all what is Life all about if it isn't for LIVING!
