Canada Day Decorations

My sister-in-law loves to decorate for special events and has a knack for doing so. Here is her tribute to Canada Day!

Mini Carnations

I thought it would be nice to treat myself to a bouquet of flowers. I love how soft they look in this picture.

Incoming Storm

A very fast moving isolated thunderstorm over the community garden. Taken with my Nokia 800 Windows 7.5 phone.

June Photo Walk - Devonian Gardens - Devon Alberta

These gardens are beautiful and are a project and product of the University of Alberta. It is divided into different areas representing different geographical locations .

First stop was the Japanese Garden.

This is the upper portion of a creek that flows into the pond.

These flowers are just a few of the many species located throughout the main garden. We were here in the early morning after an evening rain, so I was able to capture a few remaining rain drops.

These wild flowers are located in the Woods Land portion of the garden.

If you look closely at this shot, you can see tiny stands of webs strung about.

I came across this funky fungus. It really didn't look real, but it was. Quite the unique specimen for sure.

"Let's wine this up"
My self imposed title. I found this little gem when leaving. There had been a function there the previous evening and some photographer must have set this up for a photo - I didn't , but did find it a MUST take shot.

Saskatchewan Landscape - two trees

Saskatchewan has many areas that contain abandoned buildings. This one I kept driving by and a photo was calling my name.

This is one of my favorite pictures of all time. Taken at the same location as the above photo, it is all that remains of the entry to a once viable farm homestead.

Out and about - Weyburn

This barn, located on the westerly edge of Weyburn, was once known as Dreis Bros Pony Farm. Many a champion Shetland pony was born and raised here. For many years, the ponies held my attention but now the shapes and lines of the barn hold my captivation.

Amazing what a little color can do to brighten up a photo.

This sign is at the entrance to the farm, a reminder of the days of yore.

The Souris River as it meanders by Riverside Park.

Another photo of the Tiger Lily sculpture at the museum.

Saskatchewan's Provincial flower has been created as an adornment to the structure and lies near the base of the smoke stack.

Flights and sights

I am fortunate to live in a flight line and cannot resist photos of planes. This is my first attempt of night photography of them.

This may look a little weird, but it is the effect I was trying to get. Now need to work on the clarity. Love how the plane is invisible.

Waterfowl @ Fred John's Park

Another amazing night of a full moon.

                                                Is that you Mother Goose?

This Mommy caught me by surprise. She sure had her little ones reigned in.

Later I went to my favorite airplane landing spot. Here you can take really close pictures of the plane landing as it is in direct line with the runway. Used a slow shutter speed and timer to get this plane - where only the lights are visible. The streaks running across the bottom of the photo are actually the cars travelling by on the highway.
